The founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange departed from his promise to voluntarily return to the United States. About this writes Associated Press with reference to his lawyers.
Earlier, Assange agreed to extradition, provided that the American authorities have mercy on the informant Chelsea Manning. On January 18, US President Barack Obama softened Manning, however, according to the decree, she will spend another 4 months in prison.
At the same time, Assange lawyers note that the conditions were not met from the USA.
“What Obama did did is not what Assange wanted,” said Barry Pollak.
Another Assange’s lawyer Melinda Taylor confirmed that her ward asked for a complete and “immediate” pardon of Chelsea.
Earlier on WikiLeaks Twitter, Julian Assange said he would be happy to return to the United States if he is guaranteed to comply with all his rights.
The American military Bradley Manning was arrested in May 2010 on suspicion of transferring WikiLeaks more than 700 thousand American diplomatic documents regarding the US operation in Iraq. In 2013, Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison. The day after the sentence, Manning announced that he was a woman named Chelsea.
