Astronomy will return to schools in 2017

In 2017, the teaching of the subject “Astronomy”, excluded from the school curriculum 26 years ago, will again be introduced as a pilot project in several Russian schools.

The Minister of Education and Science Olga Vasilieva reported this today, January 23, on the air of Russia-1 television channel, Interfax reports.

“For the first and seventh grades, no new items are supposed. As for the high school, the introduction of astronomy was announced, ”said Vasilieva.

“There is an astronomy program. She added. “Therefore, I think that part of the schools, as a separate subject, passes this year, and in normal mode, for everyone, it will be a little later.”

From the basic plan of the school program, astronomy disappeared in 1991. Vasilieva announced the fact that astronomy as a separate subject will again be included in the Russian school curriculum in September 2016. She later explained that the training hours for teaching astronomy should be taken from the second foreign language.
