Yandex.Money intends to prohibit private individuals with fundraising for "political goals". It is reported by TJournal with reference to the press service of the service. The relevant changes are supposed to be made to the user agreement in the coming days.
"The law requires us to limit the use of electronic wallets in the purposes and methods that, from the point of view of the legislation, can be regarded ambiguously," the press service said, without specifying what specific legal norms we are talking about. Also, Yandex.Money assured that "this restriction is a standard for the electronic payments market."
Earlier on Monday, the leader of the Party of Progress Alexei Navalny wrote on his blog that the Central Bank illegally demanded that Yandex.Money block the fundraising for his presidential campaign. “So they do not violate anything to the objection,” Elvira Nabiullina’s employees answer: yes we don’t care, as you want, and close it, ”the politician wrote.
On January 20, the party functioner Leonid Volkov, to the account of which the funds are transferred, received a letter from the service administration with a request to stop using the Yandex-wallet to finance Navalny's election campaign. Otherwise, the service threatened to block the score.
In response to the TJournal request to Yandex.Money, they also noticed that Navalny could raise funds for his campaign not through Volkov’s wallet, but through the wallet of the Corruption Fund. To transfer funds to the FBK account, private individuals have every right.
However, Volkov noticed the publication that the fund is a non -political organization and therefore could not have relations to the pre -election campaign of Navalny.
Yandex.Money is not the first time to fulfill the illegal requirements of officials. So, in June 2014, the service blocked the wallet of the Union of Solidarity with political prisoners , as well as without explaining the reasons, terminated the wallet service agreement, which was conducted by the fundraising for the political collection of Igor Matveev.
In December 2015, Yandex.Money, 75 percent of which belong to Sberbank, were included in the US sanctions list .
