The Moscow City Hall refused to agree on a rally against the decriminalization of beatings

The Moscow Regional Security Department refused the organizers of the rally against the decriminalization of beatings in relation to close relatives in coordination, explaining this by the fact that swamp square is not suitable for public events. A copy of the document was published on January 22 on the event page on Facebook.

The document states that on Bolotnaya Square “there is no platform for a public event with the declared number of participants” (1000 people).

In addition, the Moscow authorities say, “a rally on Bolotnaya Square will interfere with the movement of pedestrians and vehicles, limit Muscovites access to infrastructure facilities, and violate the rights of citizens who are not involved in the indicated event.

Alexandra Voskresenskaya, who submitted a notification of the rally to the city hall, emphasized that the Moscow City Hall did not offer an alternative platform for the event, as required by the rally law. “The answer that I received is contrary to federal legislation: we were simply deprived of the opportunity to act according to the law, because it does not provide for such a procedure,” Voskresenskaya wrote.

Earlier, the organizer of the action noted that the rally will be agreed with the local authorities and at their request may be changed. “In the initiative group, everything is lawyers or students who receive a legal education, therefore, if participants in the legislation of the Russian Federation followed, there should be no problems,” wrote Voskresenskaya. - “This problem can really be solved peacefully; This is not Syria, not Crimea, not sanctions, not elections and not corruption, where the authorities would be categorical. This is a sphere in which a lot depends on our activity. ”

The organizers of the rally intend to appeal the refusal to agree on the event, as well as submit a new notice to the city hall, transferring the action for the week - from January 28 to February 4 - and changing the place from the Bolotnaya Square to the Sokolniki Park.
