More than two thousand objects are built in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the deputy head of the department Timur Ivanov said in an interview with Kommersant.
These include special and social facilities: radar stations, hydraulic structures, airfields, medical facilities, residential buildings, schools and kindergartens. Ivanov called the scale of construction colossal and compared with the post -war period.
Among the largest projects of the Ministry of Defense in 2016, Ivanov noted the construction of berths for submarines in Novorossiysk and Vilyuchinsk, the arrangement of military towns of two missile brigades "Iskander-M" in the Southern Military District, the construction of the Tula Suvorovsky school.
In total, in 2016, the Ministry of Defense built over 2.5 thousand buildings and structures with a total area of 2.7 million square meters, added Ivanov. About 30 thousand people take part in the work, not counting subcontractors.
At the end of December 2016, Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu announced the abolition of the Federal Agency for Special Construction (Spetsstroy). The agency decided to liquidate the agency after his failed reform, which was carried out due to repeated claims to the timing of the work of the structures subordinate to it.
