
The top manager of the Kaspersky Laboratory Ruslan Stoyanov, who heads the company for the investigation of cybercriminals in the company, is closely cooperating with law enforcement agencies, arrested and has been in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center since December 2016. According to Kommersant, a source close to the FSB told about this.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, at the same time in the same case, the head of one of the units of the Center for Information Security of the FSB Sergey Mikhailov was also arrested. The press service of the Kaspersky laboratory confirmed Stoyanov’s arrest, emphasizing that the investigation has nothing to do with the company and is “conducted in relation to a private person”.
According to other sources, the USB investigation is carried out on suspicion of violation of Article 275 of the Criminal Code ("state treason"). As part of the investigation, information on the receipt by an employee of the QIB employee from one of the foreign organizations is allegedly verified through the mediation of an employee of a certain Russian company in the field of information security.
The problems in the QIB became known about January 13th. Then it was reported that the head of the unit Andrei Gerasimov could leave his post. The interlocutors of the publication associated what was happening just with the investigation of the FSB USB in relation to one of his deputies. According to them, among other things, the relations of the QIB with private companies that collaborated with the unit during the examinations on cybercriminations are checked.
The situation in the QIB risks affecting the cybersecurity markets and e -commerce, which, participants in which, may, will have to re -build relations with the state. According to sources familiar with Mikhailov, this is one of the key employees of the QIB, which "essentially oversees the entire Internet business in the country."
The Kaspersky laboratory investigation department of the Kaspersky Laboratory has collaborated with the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs as part of the analysis of cybercrime and expert support of criminal cases in the field of cybersecurity. Ruslan Stoyanov until 2006 worked in the management of special technical events of the Moscow Central Internal Affairs Directorate (Office "K").
