Tatar activist Danis Safargali accused of extremism

Danis Safargali, leader of the Tatar social movement Altyn Urda, has been charged with inciting hatred and enmity for making fifteen entries on the social network Vkontakte. It is reported by "Idel. Realities". The father of six children, Danis Safargali, has been in jail for four months.

On October 21, 2016, Safargali was detained by the police because he was wanted. At the end of December, Safargali was charged with a new charge under Article 282 of the Criminal Code. Initially, he was placed in a pre-trial detention center on charges of intentionally causing minor bodily harm, hooliganism and beatings due to a brawl, during which he stood up for his pregnant wife, who was kicked in the stomach during the conflict.

The investigator’s decision to implicate Danis Safargali as a defendant states that in the period from March 2014 to March 2016, he was on his page on the VKontakte social network “acting with direct intent, with the aim of inciting hatred and enmity on the basis of origin, nationality , religion, as well as belonging to certain social groups ... posted materials that provoke the incitement of interethnic hatred and enmity.

Safargali blames the publication on his page of the video “Rashist pseudo-spirituality of the Russian Orthodox Church”, as a result of which, according to experts, “the destruction of self-consciousness, self-esteem, the replacement of beliefs formed over the years with new ones, opposite to existing norms, due to which can create in people resentment, insecurity, feelings of inferiority, tension, confusion, anxiety, panic and fear of the future.
