
In the suburbs on Friday, January 27, the first head of the self -proclaimed Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) Valery Bolotov died, the news agency Novorossia reported.
Bolotov’s death confirmed the online publication “Lenta.ru” and the Russian Spring portal Speaker of the Parliament of the so-called Novorosia (LPR and the DPR) Oleg Tsarev, and the ex-head of the DPR Alexander Borodai reported this to RBC .
According to the wife of Bolotov, Tsarev said that the politician died in his house in the Moscow region. Beard announced the death of Bolotov also from the words of his relatives and without details.
The head of the Southeast Front information center Konstantin Knyrik told Interfax that, according to preliminary data, there was a heart attack: "He suddenly became ill." According to Knyrik, Bolotov died in his apartment in Moscow.
RIA Novosti , citing a source close to the leadership of the LPR, also reports that Bolotov "had a heart attack, but so far there is no exact information."
"Bolotov was the first to head the LPR, entered the Union of Volunteers of Donbass. I express my condolences to his relatives. I can’t say that when military events unfolded in Ukraine in Ukraine, I knew him well, but he made a significant contribution to the formation of the LPR. I want to offer the authorities of the unrecognized republic to perpetuate his memory and erect a monument.
Valery Bolotov was born on February 13, 1970 in Taganrog, grew in the city of Stakhanov, Lugansk region, studied for some time at the local school N18. He served in the Vitebsk airborne division, participated in the conflicts of 1989 and 1990 in Yerevan and Nagorno-Karabakh, was chairman of the Union of Veterans of the Airborne Forces of the Luhansk region.
On April 5, 2014, he called for an open confrontation with the Ukrainian authorities, then participated in the armed seizure of the SBU department in the Luhansk region in April of the same year, was one of the commanders of the "Army of the Southeast". In the same month, at the popular gathering of the inhabitants of Lugansk, Valery Bolotov was elected temporarily acting as the "People's Governor" of the Lugansk region.
Soon after the attempt on his life, committed on the morning of May 11, 2014, Bolotov left Ukraine to Russia. Then he was injured in the upper body, lost a lot of blood and soon resigned, referring to the consequences of the wound.
It was replaced by the head of the LPR Igor Plotnitsky, who later signed the Minsk agreements. Recently, Bolotov has been organizing humanitarian aid of the LPR.
In the last public interview with Rosbalt , published on December 8, 2016, the ex-head of the LPR harshly criticized its successor, saying that he was deprived of his post as a result of the conspiracy.
He stated that his orders were not fulfilled and saboted by one commander, whom he also appointed: "At that time - the Minister of Defense Igor Plotnitsky." “I once ordered Plotnitsky to assemble a battalion to protect the law and order in the city, participate in hostilities and protect the borders of the LPR. However, as it turned out, the battalion (“ dawn ”) worked for another. I tried, but I did not have time, resources and the opportunity to be nearby and control the set of people. I trusted Plotnitsky, and he formed the battalion for himself. People complied with Plotnitsky’s orders, not mine, ”said Bolotov.
