25 years ago, on January 28, 1992, near the city of Shushi in Nagorno-Karabakh, during landing approach, a civilian Mi-8 helicopter of the Azerbaijani airline Azal Azerbaijan Airline, carrying passengers from Agdam to the blocked Shusha, was shot down by a MANPADS. All 44 people on board were killed, mostly women and children. The Armenian side, without denying the fact of launching a rocket, stated that the helicopter could carry weapons to attack Armenian villages.
