The Crimea does not approve the idea of ​​creating Tatar autonomy in Ukraine

The creation of the National Crimean Tatar Autonomy in the border with the Crimea of ​​the Kherson region of Ukraine can give rise to an interethnic conflict, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the head of the State Committee of the Republic for Interethnic Relations and deported citizens of Zaur Smirnov.

According to him, the government of the republic received information about the plans of the leaders of the recognized extremist and prohibited organization "Medzhlis of the Crimean Tatar people" to create national-territorial autonomy of the Crimean Tatars in the Kherson region. "In this way, the outflow of Crimean Tatars, which were completely integrated into the Russian community, will not be able to lead from the Crimea from Crimea. It is possible that the creation of national -territorial autonomy in the Kherson region can provoke an interethnic conflict in the region of the region," Smirnov said.

In addition, such an idea will cause discontent and confrontation by the local population, according to the head of the State Committee of the Republic. "The Crimean Tatars already have a homeland - this is Crimea, where all the conditions for development, as well as the preservation of culture and customs are created for them. All other formations are a political provocation," he emphasized.

It should be noted that in November last year it was reported that the prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal equated the situation in Crimea with an armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Including the Hague indicated that when applying Russian legislation in Crimea, Crimean Tatars and other Muslims of the peninsula "were oppressed or intimidated, including a number of measures such as a ban on entering the territory of [Crimea], searches of houses and restrictions on freedom of speech, meeting and creating associations."
