John Watton died

Today, January 31, at the age of 67, the British rock musician John Wetton, a member of the King Crimson, Uriah Heep and Asia group, died.

John Watton was born in 1949, in the 1960s he played in the church on the organ, and later participated in several rock projects.

In 1971, Robert Fripp invited him to the forecast of King Crimson , a vocalist, a bass player and the author of the songs of which Wetton was until 1974. During this time, King Crimson released three albums - “Larks' Tongues in Aspic (1973), Starless and Bible Black (1974) and Red (1974).

After that, Wetton played in Roxy Music , Uriah Heep and UK groups, in 1980 he recorded the first solo album, Caught in the Crossfire .

In 1981, Wetton gathered the Asia super group, which also included Jeffrey Downs and Steve Hau from YES and Karl Palmer from Emerson, Lake and Palmer .

Asia albums took first places in the charts and diverged in millions of circulations, the group toured a lot, in 1990 the musicians performed in the Moscow Olympic sports complex in front of a forty -thousandth audience.

The group broke up several times and reunited in different compositions, but Wetton invariably remained its leader. The last, 13th studio album Asia , Gravitas , was released in 2014.
