The court sentenced the defendants in the case of the murder of prisoner Anton Stern in the Ural IK-2

The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced those accused of murdering convict Anton Stern in the Ural penal colony-2. The lawyer of Stern’s relatives, Roman Kachanov, told Mediazona about this.

The defendants in the case - Egor Mamontov, Sergei Bessonov, Murad Agamaliev and Nazir Sadov - were charged with Article 163 and part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code (extortion and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, committed by a group of persons and negligently resulting in the death of the victim).

According to investigators , Mamontov and Bessonov, who are serving time for drug possession, extorted money from Stern for six months, demanding that 5 thousand rubles a month be transferred to Bessonov’s mother’s card. When Stern did not pay again, they beat him together with Sadov and Agamaliev, who was a prize-winner of the European Boxing Championship. Due to his injuries, Stern soon died.

Mamontov was sentenced to 15 years in a maximum security colony, Agamaliev was sentenced to 11 years in a maximum security colony, Sadov - 12 years, Bessonova - 6 and a half years in a maximum security colony.

The lawyer noted that the victims are dissatisfied with the investigation because they believe that three more convicts who participated in the beating of Stern escaped responsibility.

Kachanov added that, despite the information in the case materials about the “built-up system of assets” in IK-2 and regular extortions, the administration employees who committed new crimes on the territory of the institution were not brought to criminal responsibility.
