Avdeevka, a city north of Donetsk, has again become a place of fierce battles between Ukrainian forces and pro -Russian separatists for the last three days.
Not only the industrial zone southeast of Avdeevka is subjected to shelling, where the demarcation line between Ukrainian and separatist forces, but also residential quarters of the city.
At night, according to the Ukrainian side, the separatists fired at the surroundings of Avdeevka from the reactive systems of the Grad volley fire. For the first time in a long time, several residential buildings were damaged. According to preliminary data, there are wounded among the local population.
On the morning of January 29, the separatists launched an assault in the industrial zone, which led to losses on both sides. Due to the shelling of Avdeevka, where over 20 thousand people live, remained without energy supply, electricity and heat. The parties accuse each other of violation of a truce.
The Ukrainian authorities are preparing the evacuation of residents of the city. Humanitarian help is delivered there.
German journalist Julian Repka published on Twitter a video of a missile blow, applied, according to him, pro -Russian forces from Donetsk in Avdeevka.

Residents of different regions of the city told Donbas. Reali that pro -Russian militants fired from the residential quarters of Donetsk on January 30. Separatists, in turn, argue that Ukrainian troops fired at the position of forces of the so -called "DPR" in a day about two and a half thousand times.
The Ambassador of Canada to Kyiv Roman Vashchuk wrote on Twitter: "shelling" by grades "of civilians committed by pro -Russian separatists should be stopped. All parties must create safe conditions for the civilian population."

The European Union made a sharp statement , demanding to immediately stop the fighting:
"Intensive battles near Avdeevka in the last days, which included heavy shelling from prohibited types of weapons and led to significant victims, are a gross violation of the truce provided for by the Minsk agreements. This exposes civilians serious risk.
Recent events have already seriously violated the basic life support systems.
We are calling for the immediate end of the battles. This will allow, among other things, to urgently restore the vital infrastructure. Complete compliance with the truce is an important step towards the implementation of the Minsk agreements, which are the basis of the peaceful and sustainable resolution of the conflict that respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The special monitoring mission of the OSCE should get unlimited access to all the areas affected by the conflict. "
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko the day before interrupted the visit to Germany because of the battles near Avdeevka. Kyiv warns of the threat of a humanitarian catastrophe and imposes responsibility for the breakdown of peaceful Minsk agreements. Moscow, in turn, accuses Kyiv of "aggressive actions."
On Tuesday, the battles continued on Tuesday: the Ukrainian side claims that the separatists requested a truce, but after 10-15 minutes they again attacked the positions of Ukrainian forces.
Berlin violinist Marina Bondas , who travels to the east of Ukraine to deliver humanitarian aid and play concerts to civilians and Ukrainian military, turned out to be a witness to Avdeevka shelling. She arrived in the city just on Sunday:
- When we were still at the entrance, the driver called and said that light had disappeared in Avdeevka. A large caliber was heard. At first it was somehow not taken seriously, I already heard this from time to time. But by night something terrible was happening. The house in the old Avdeevka, in which we lived, walked with a shake. A large caliber, from afar, then the sound grew. On the first night it was practically without blowing. Yesterday, by the evening it began to subside, they thought that everything calmed down, and then it began at night. The city sits without light and almost without heating, on the street minus 20. From the other side they usually aim at the positions of [Ukrainian military], but, they say, it reached the city. We left the city today, and on the way there was a fresh funnel from something very large.

The German violinist treats the music of the inhabitants of Donbass
- You heard stories, but you yourself did not see that the shells got into residential buildings?
- I did not see it myself, because we practically did not go. There is still a very big problem with the connection, there is practically no telephone connection, everything is in confusion. It is easier to reach a neighbor to the neighboring quarter than to get through. But those who came from somewhere in the city today said: now, today they hit the morning, saw a funnel at the stadium, flew around the city. And I heard: something very large flew into the city. Where it got, I don't know. They say this has not happened since 2015.
- You say, there is no light in the city, there is no heating, that is, in the houses of cold? Or is the heating support at some level?
- Who's how. Where we lived-autonomous heating, on gas, so we had more or less heat. There are completely no heating areas in any of the areas. And darkness, we walk with flashlights, with candles. Romance.
-Is it known about the receipt of some kind of humanitarian aid? There are reports that they are going to evacuate Avdeevka.
- As for the evacuation, the city’s authorities are quite seriously treated, it seems to be prepared. In the city, tents with heating were placed, there are generators, that is, people can go to warm up, charge phones at least. The problem is for me personally, for example, that I want to help, but I don’t know how - information does not act, it is very difficult to figure it out. So while we are waiting.
- But you do not know about urgent need for humanitarian aid?
- There is an urgent need to stop “grades” from Donetsk, sorry! Last night and today they shot at the morning, grenades fell on Avdeevka, I don’t know where for sure. It is urgent to restore electricity, but it is almost impossible to restore the electric wire on the other side. Today there was information that about 12 [hours] a truce, or a regime of silence, promised about 12 [hours] so that people could leave. But at 12 [hours], just from the other side, something arrived, I heard.
- You are talking about "grades" there, but you are not a specialist, you can hardly determine for sure.
- You know, when you sit there for two days, you begin to distinguish. And judging by the sound, there were "grades", and there were photos and videos from the side, as they flew out. Many of the local residents of the connections with Donetsk, people call back, if they can, and from the other side tell how it flies out or when it flies there.
- There are no panic moods in the city?
- No, accustomed already. I don’t know, today I have not been in the city. Of course, everyone is a little puzzled, let’s say, someone has already taken out the children, someone else thinks, take it out or not to export. The situation is some kind of stupid. When you sit there, all the time it seems that now everything will end, so they still hope. Where I was, it’s far from panic. But I didn’t go around the city, so I can’t say about general mood, ”says Marina Bondas.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, reportedly, gave an instruction to contact the UN Security Council in connection with the situation in Avdeevka.
