Law enforcement agencies detained a resident of the Krasnodar Territory, suspected of aiding the terrorist organization Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (Jabhat al-Nusra, banned in the Russian Federation), who was preparing a terrorist attack on the eve of the New Year holidays. This was reported by the press service of the FSB Directorate for the Krasnodar Territory.
“Employees of the FSB of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory, in cooperation with employees of the Central Office of the FSB of Russia, suppressed the illegal activities of a resident of the Krasnodar Territory born in 1979, an accomplice of the MTO (international terrorist organization), suspected of intentions to commit a terrorist act by detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) on the eve of New Year holidays,” the message says.
During the arrest, the man, a native of the North Caucasus Republic, resisted. During the search, he was found to have a homemade explosive device consisting of 200 grams of plastic explosive, as well as destructive elements in the form of nuts and a detonator capsule. The detonator was detonated when a mobile phone rang. The man was also found with a PM pistol, TASS reports.
Now a criminal case has been opened against the suspect.
