Over the past two years, the number of Russians traveling on vacation abroad more than once a year has almost doubled, the Kommersant survey among travel agents testifies .
According to estimates of market participants surveyed by the newspaper, the number of citizens leaving Russia since 2014 has decreased by an average of 30-50%.
The head of one travel agency informed the publication that in 2015 the average check for sold tours was 61 thousand rubles, and in 2016 it decreased to 56 thousand rubles, and noted that “customers more often choose budget placement options and less likely to book All Inclusive systems”.
The fall by 30% -50% was confirmed by tour operators, the newspaper adds. One of them spoke about a decrease in the total number of people traveling abroad from 17 million in 2014 to the estimated 9 million in 2016.
Kommersant recalls the November data of Promsvyazbank, according to which, from 2014 to 2016, the organized tourism market decreased from $ 7.7 billion to $ 3.6 billion by more than 50%.
Opinions of experts surveyed by the newspaper regarding future changes were divided: two market participants suggested a return to the pre -crisis level in 2017, including in connection with the return to the Egypt market, one person suggested that the growth of tourists is possible only with an increase in the income of Russians or with a considerable confidence, and that “now there are no prerequisites for this”.
