Central Bank showed banknotes of 200 and 2000 rubles

The Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia determined which symbols will be placed on new banknotes with a face value of 200 and 2000 rubles. This was reported in the press release of the regulator.

On the bill 200 rubles will be depicted commemorative places of Sevastopol - a monument to flooded ships and a view of the Tauride Chersonesos. On a banknote, 2000 rubles will be placed symbols of the Far East - a bridge to the island of Russian and the Eastern Cosmodrome in the Amur Region.

The Far East and Sevastopol won the competition for the choice of symbols for the new bills of the Central Bank, the results of which were summed up in October 2016. However, at that time it was not known which of the selected regions would fall into a banknote of 200 rubles, and which is 2000 rubles.

In October, the General Director of Goznaka Arkady Trachuk said that the design of both banknotes will be developed until April 2017. It is expected that they will be released before the end of this year.

The Central Bank announced the issue of new bills in April 2016. The regulator explained that "the addition of the nominal series of banknotes will simplify the calculations of citizens for goods and services."
