
Doping test "B" of the Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin gave a positive result to OSA. According to TASS, this was announced by the senior partner of Forward Legal, Alexei Karpenko, representing the interests of the Russian.
"Sample" B "is opened. OSARINA is confirmed," said Karpenko. In turn, Andrei Ryabinsky, the head of the Boxing World company, said that Ostarin was discovered in a “minimum concentration”.
Doping tests were taken by the Association for Volunteer Testing for Doping (VADA) and opened in the Los Angeles laboratory. After publication of the results of the VADA test, Ryabinsky announced the need to conduct independent testing.
“We received the results of tests from another laboratory that is located in Lausanne. They are clean,” he said.
In December 2016, the World Boxing Council withdrew permission to fight for the title of temporary world of WBC in heavyweight weight due to positive Doping tests of Povetkin. The battle between Povetkin and Canadian Bermane Stylen was supposed to take place in Yekaterinburg, however, traces of Ostarin’s use were discovered in the Russian doping industry. In Russia, it is equated with anabolic steroids and is used to increase muscle mass and burn subcutaneous fat.
In May 2016, Povetkin was supposed to fight against the then WBC champion, American Deontei Wilder. But before the battle, the Russian handed over a positive test for Meldonius. The battle did not take place, but Povetkin’s promoters managed to prove that the traces of Meldonia appeared in the athlete's body before the drug was recognized as doping.
Povetkin - two -time European champion (2002, 2004), world champion (2003), Olympic champion (2004) in amateur competitions. Going to professionals, in 2011 he won the WBA world champion title in heavyweight.
