Participants in pickets against the bill introducing need criteria were detained in Chita

On February 3, police officers detained five members of the city committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation who were holding solo pickets in front of the administration building of the Trans-Baikal Territory in Chita. This is reported by the publication "Zabmedia" with reference to the head of the department of agitation and propaganda of the regional branch of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Svetlana Skubyeva.

“Currently, the protesters are being interrogated by the police. They detained me because the picket was not coordinated with the administration. We are measuring the distance at which we stood and comparing it with the distance allowed for such events. The legitimacy of the picket is being checked,” Svetlana Skubeva said.

The participants of the action decided to hold pickets at the time when the meeting of the Legislative Assembly Committee on social policy was held in the government building, where the draft law on the introduction of criteria of need is being discussed once again. The picketers are demanding to abandon the adoption in Transbaikalia of the law on the criteria of need, which, in their opinion, is directed against veterans, large families and professionals living in rural areas. As a result of the adoption of the bill, about 3,000 veterans and large families in the Trans-Baikal Territory will lose social benefits.
