22 natives of Chechnya were detained in Vienna

The Austrian police detained more than 20 people from Chechnya in Vienna, reports APA. They found firearms and ammunition.

On Friday evening, local residents informed the police that a suspicious group of men had gathered on the Danube Island in the Floridsdorf area. The men who arrived at the police officer explained that they had gathered for a walk, some claimed to be returning from the wedding. The decision on the detention was made after the policeman found a gun, which one of the audience tried to hide in the snow.

On Saturday, 22 detained men aged 25 to 50 were interrogated by investigators. Initially, the case was initiated under Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Austria (hostile to the state of communication).

However, subsequently the Minister of Internal Affairs Wolfgang Sobotka said that in this case we are not talking about terrorism, but about the rivalry of criminal groups.

The Minister thanked the citizens who reported suspicious persons, and noted a good interaction between society and the police.
