The Governor of the Perm Territory Victor Basargin will leave his post on February 6. The sources in the presidential administration told about this “rain”.
“Under the Basargin in the Perm Territory there were constant interethnic conflicts, and this did not suit the presidential administration,” the interlocutor explained.
The channel added that the governor also had “not the best” relations with Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev.
Among the possible candidates for the post of head of the Perm Territory, the source called one of the deputy governor, as well as the former head of the administration of the region, Alexei Frolov, who is now deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo.
According to the source, Basargin is considered close to Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin, so the opinion of the latter will be taken into account when choosing a new governor.
The representative of Basargin told Rain that he does not know about the preparatory dismissal. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused to comment on this information.
The federal official told Vedomosti that before the presidential election, the Kremlin plans to “improve the political situation in a number of problematic regions”, for which he would soon order to dismiss five governors. In addition to Basargin, Alexander Khudilinen (Karelia), Oleg Kovalev (Ryazan region), Evgeny Kuyvashev (Sverdlovsk Region), Sergey Mitin (Novgorod Region), Pavel Konkov (Ivanovo Region) and Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn (Buryatia) can leave their posts.
In 2017, direct elections of the head of the region will be held in the Perm Territory. Kommersant wrote that on February 2, Basargin flew to Moscow on an urgent visit. It was reported that the governor met with the leadership of the presidential administration to discuss the issue of his participation in the elections.
The St. Petersburg Politics Foundation and the Mintchenko Consulting holding, which make up the rating of the “political survival” of the heads of regions, evaluated the work of the head of the Perm Territory on a “deuce with a plus”.
Basargin became the head of the Perm Territory in 2012. Prior to this, he was deputy authorized representative of the President in the Ural Federal District and Minister of Regional Development of Russia.
