A pupil of a Nizhny Novgorod orphanage killed a seven-year-old girl “for a bet”

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a criminal case has been opened regarding the murder of a seven-year-old pupil of a social rehabilitation center for minors in the city of Knyaginino (clause “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code), according to the website of the regional Investigative Committee. A 15-year-old pupil of this center is suspected of killing a girl “on a bet,” ProGorod reports , citing the “By the way” program on the “Che” TV channel.

The mother of the deceased girl, who had previously been deprived of parental rights, said that a girl from a group of older students put a pillow on her daughter’s head and suffocated her. The source noted that “they plan to find the girl who killed the child not guilty due to the fact that she has a mental illness.”

A seven-year-old girl was killed on the night of February 5th. According to investigators, the suspected pupil of the social rehabilitation center entered the bedroom where there were two young girls and strangled one of them “for an insignificant reason.” The suspect was detained, and she told investigators about the circumstances of the incident in the presence of a lawyer, teacher and legal representative.

In the near future, the detainee will be charged and a preventive measure will be chosen. The investigation also plans to evaluate the actions of the orphanage officials who allowed the girl to be killed based on the proper performance of their official duties.
