Putin offered to head the Perm region to the head of the Moscow economic policy department

Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed that Maxim Reshetnikov, head of Moscow's economic policy department, become acting governor of the Perm Territory, according to the Kremlin's website.

Governor of the Perm Territory Viktor Basargin announced his resignation on 6 February. He announced the decision not to participate in the gubernatorial elections in September 2017 at a press conference.

Despite the fact that his term of office expires in May, the head of the region decided to apply to the head of state with a request for early termination of his powers as governor.

“There is not much time left until September, the candidate, supported by the president, must adapt to the conditions of work in the Perm Territory, receive support from its residents, political parties and social movements in order to enter the elections with a program of priority steps for the socio-economic development of the region ”, Mr. Basargin explained his decision.

He added that the post of interim head of the region will be taken by a new person who must "adapt to the working conditions."
