The LDPR will submit to the Duma draft amendments repealing the criminal article under which Dadin was convicted

On February 6, the LDPR faction will introduce amendments to the criminal code for discussion by the State Duma, abolishing criminal liability for repeated violations at public events (Article 212.1), according to which Ildar Dadin was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Liberal Democratic Party.

The deputies who developed the draft law note the disproportion between the severity of punishment and the severity of the misconduct, and appeal to the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which stipulates the impossibility of punishing twice for one act:

Obviously, the wording of Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for the criminal liability of a person who has already incurred liability in the manner established by the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. Article 50 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation contains a prohibition of repeated punishment for one offense: “No one can be repeatedly convicted for the same crime”
