
The Governor of the Perm Territory Viktor Basargin decided to leave his post. He stated this during a press conference, Interfax reports.
“My term of office ends in May, I consider it necessary to contact the president about early reservation. Until September, a little time, a candidate nominated by the president [to the governors] should adapt to the conditions of the Perm Territory, find interaction with residents, political and social movements of the region, ”said Basargin.
The proposed reasons for his resignation were previously reported by Rain. The sources of the TV channel said that there were “constant inter -elite conflicts” in the region, which caused dissatisfaction with the presidential administration. Kommersant added that conflicts were associated with influential groups close to former heads of Perm Territory Oleg Chirkunov and Yuri Trutnev.
Candidates for the post of governor of the region “Rain” called one of the deputy Basargin, as well as the former head of the administration of the region, Alexei Frolov, who is now holding the position of deputy head of Rossotrudnichestvo. In turn, the sources of Kommersant said that the “most likely” contender is the chief federal inspector for the Perm Territory Igor Tsvetkov, who until May 2016 worked in the structures of the FSB in the North Caucasus. This candidacy is lobbying for the presidential envoy in the Volga District Mikhail Babich, the interlocutor of the newspaper emphasized.
In 2017, the election of the governor will be held in the Perm Territory. Basargin announced his intention to participate in the vote, but emphasized that "everything would depend on the decision of [the President of Russia] Vladimir Putin."
Kommersant wrote that Basargin was called to Moscow on February 2. According to the publication, the governor met with the leadership of the presidential administration, with whom he discussed the issue of his participation in the elections. Before that, he dismissed the government of the region, abolished the position of prime minister and personally headed the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the sources of Vedomosti, in addition to the resignation of the head of the Perm Territory, several more governors will leave their posts in the near future. Among the possible candidates, the newspaper called Alexander Khudilinen (Karelia), Oleg Kovalev (Ryazan region), Evgenia Kuyvasheva (Sverdlovsk region), Sergey Mitin (Novgorod region), Pavel Konkova (Ivanovo region) and Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn (Buryatia).
