The ECHR awarded the group of Russians 183 thousand euros for violation of the right to freedom of assembly

The European Court of Human Rights awarded monetary compensation to a group of Russians who complained of restricting the authorities of freedom of assembly. The corresponding decision is published on the court website.

23 Russians made a complaint to Strasbourg, including human rights activist Lev Ponomarev and the coordinator of the Left Front Sergey Udaltsov. According to the plaintiffs, from 2009 to 2012, the authorities in Russia, in one way or another, prevented the holding of a total of 28 mass shares.

The court decision emphasizes that the authors of the complaint were not given the possibility of legal protection. In addition, in the case with Lev Ponomarev, Sergei Udaltsov and the third applicant, political scientist Evgeny I.pochov, the ECHR saw a violation of the right to impartial hearing in a court of complaints of refusing to agree on shares. At the same time, the court refused to satisfy the complaint about the violation of the right to freedom of expressing the opinions of the plaintiffs.

As a result, the court ordered Russia to pay the plaintiffs a total of more than 183 thousand euros for violation of their rights and as compensation for legal costs.

Last Thursday, the ECHR satisfied the seven complaints of the leader of the Party of Progress Alexei Navalny of detention, fines and administrative arrests from 2011 to 2014, deciding to pay a policy of 63.7 thousand euros of compensation. 50 thousand euros Navalny were awarded as compensation for non -pecuniary damage, about a thousand euros for material damage, almost 12.7 thousand euros for legal costs.

"The false, corrupt and hypocritical judicial system of the Russian Federation is sunk," Navalny answered the court decision. "Russia, in fact, should not reform the judicial system, but create it. What is now - an abomination based on telephone and bribes. No one can achieve justice in these" courts. "No reform will not go until there are no vessels," the politician summed up.
