Following the Governor of the Perm Territory, Viktor Basargin, who retired on Monday, February 6, Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn, the head of the Republic of Buryatia, also announced the early addition of his powers.

On Tuesday, February 7, he told reporters that he would not apply for a third term and in the near future he would turn to the President of the Russian Federation with a request for resignation. “I worked out the full two terms. Formally, there is an occasion to go for a third term, but the situation suggests that today there is a position that the changes in the republic are needed,” said Nagovitsyn, the words of which are quoted by TASS.

“I made, in my opinion, the only right decision is not to run for a third term. I think that I honestly worked for two terms. And I think this is enough. The same principle is adhering to the same world - two terms. There should be a rotation. A new fresh wave comes during rotation,” the head of the region emphasized.

As Nagovitsyn noted, he did not wait until May, when the term of his powers expires. “The statement wrote right now with a request to dismiss me from his position and use my potential in public office so that I can benefit both the country and the republic” (quote for Interfax ), ”the politician said, adding that he could not work for now.

The temporarily acting head of Buryatia may be appointed Deputy Minister of Transport Alexei Tsydenov, the newspaper Vedomosti reports with reference to a source close to the government and the interlocutor in the government.

According to the publication, the issue of the appointment of Tsydenov for a new position was discussed at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich. One of the sources of the newspaper describes Tsydenov as the closest ally of the Minister of Transport of Russia Maxim Sokolov.

The 60-year-old United Russia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn worked two terms as head of Buryatia, before that he headed the Tomsk Region government, while replacing the post of first deputy head of the Tomsk Region administration. In June 2007, Russian President Vladimir Putin submitted his candidacy for consideration by the People’s Khural (Parliament) of Buryatia to give the powers of the president of the republic. In June, deputies of Buryatia approved the candidacy, in July an inauguration took place. Later, the president of the republic began to be called its head.

In 2012, Putin accepted the early resignation of Nagovitsyn, then the People’s Khural approved Nagovitsyn as the head of Buryatia.

Last year, local media wrote about the possible early reservation of Nagovitsyn’s authority to participate in the September elections, but this did not happen. The term of powers of the current head of Buryatia expired in May 2017.

On Monday, the newspaper Vedomosti reported that in the coming days it may be announced the resignation of the heads of several regions. The former federal official and the interlocutor of the publication close to the Kremlin told that this decision was recently discussed in the administration of domestic policy (UVP).

According to the newspaper, under the close attention of the Kremlin were the Governor of the Perm Territory Viktor Basargin, the head of Karelia, Alexander Khudilinen, the head of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn, the Governor of the Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev, the head of the Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev, the governor of the Novgorod region Sergey Mitin and the head of the Ivanovo region Pavel Konkov.
