The prosecutor's office appealed the decision of the appellate court in the case of Evgenia Chudnovets

The prosecutor's office of the Kurgan region submitted to the presidium of the regional court a cassation submission for the determination of the appellate instance in the criminal case of the educator Yevgenia Chudnovets, who was convicted for reposting a scene of bullying a child. The prosecutor's office demands to transfer the criminal case for a new appeal. This was reported on February 7 on the website of the department.

“After a comprehensive study of the court decision, the prosecutor’s office of the Kurgan region concluded that the assessment given during the meeting of the appeal instance to the arguments of the defense was incomplete and biased,” the press service of the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

On November 10, 2016, the Katai District Court of the Kurgan Region sentenced teacher Yevgenia Chudnovets to six months in prison on charges of distributing child porn for reposting a video on her page on the social network VKontakte, which depicted abuse of a naked child in the toilet children's camp in the city of Kataysk, Kurgan region. According to Chudnovets, she wanted to draw public attention to these bullying. The court of second instance reduced the term of imprisonment by only a month, despite the fact that not only the defense , but also the prosecution asked not to deprive her of her freedom.

Chudnovets was at large during the trial, but after the verdict was announced, she was taken into custody, at the moment she is serving her sentence in correctional colony No. 6 of Nizhny Tagil.
