The head of Buryatia also announced that the decision was his personal, and no one forced him.

60-year-old Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn has led the region since 2007, having arrived in Buryatia from the Tomsk region, where he headed the regional government in the rank of the first deputy governor. He intended to take part in the first elections of the head of the republic in September 2017, since his powers as the head of Buryatia expired in May 2017.

Recall, on February 6, the head of the Perm Territory Viktor Basargin, whose powers expired in March 2017, also submitted a resignation , which he announced at an unscheduled press conference.

The region was headed by the head of the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow, Maxim Reshetnikov, who previously worked in the administrations of the heads of Buryatia Yuri Trutnev and Oleg Chirkunov.

Earlier, the Vedomosti newspaper, citing a source close to the Kremlin, said that about five governors may be announced in the near future.

According to the publication, among those who can leave their post, the head of Karelia Alexander Khudilinen, governors of the Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev, Sverdlovsk region Yevgeny Kuyvashev, Novgorod and Ivanovo regions Sergey Mitin and Pavel Konkov, as well as the head of the Perm Territory Viktor Basargin and the Republic of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn.

According to the source of the newspaper, the situation in these regions is not easy and the Kremlin hopes to use the September elections to improve the political situation in a number of problematic regions on the eve of the presidential election.
