In the Moscow region, a baby died after doctors refused hospitalization

Roszdravnadzor has begun an investigation into the death of a baby in Pushkin near Moscow, the department’s press service reports . The hospital refused to admit a mother with a sick two-month-old child and sent them home due to quarantine.

“The staff of the Pushkin Central District Hospital refused to hospitalize the sick girl in the institution, citing quarantine in the infectious diseases department,” noted Roszdravnadzor.

The next day after the doctors refused, the child’s condition worsened. Then the mother called a pediatrician from a local clinic, but he was unable to make a diagnosis. The woman called an ambulance, but the girl died before the brigade arrived. Arriving doctors pronounced her dead.

The child's body was sent to the morgue for a forensic medical examination and to establish the cause of death.

According to REN-TV, shortly before the tragedy, the child’s parents consulted a doctor because of digestive problems in the baby. The medical institution assures that the child’s mother herself refused hospitalization. Doctors gave the child painkillers, and she felt better. However, after some time, her condition worsened, and her mother called an ambulance.

Last summer in Kamchatka, a seven-month-old child died due to a false diagnosis and refusal of hospitalization. He was first examined by a pediatrician and diagnosed with dermatitis. The doctor recommended hospitalization, which the baby's mother refused. A few hours later the child died. Experts determined that the cause of the baby's death was meningitis.
