
Megafon closed the purchase of 63.8% of voting shares or 15.2% of the authorized capital Mail.ru Group. This is stated in the statement of the operator.
In total, Megafon will pay the Internet company $ 740 million, of which $ 640 million-at the time of the transaction closing and $ 100 million in a year.
In December, the operator officially announced plans to redeem the share in Mail.ru Group "In order to simplify and accelerate the implementation of joint projects of companies."
Later, the deal was approved by the shareholders of the company, and on February 8, Sberbank and Megafon entered into an agreement on opening a credit line with a volume of 35 billion rubles. It was emphasized that the companies “continue to work completely on market conditions”, and the teams of both organizations will be independent.
The controlling shareholder both in Mail.Ru Group and in Megafon is the USM holding belonging to the businessman Alisher Usmanov.
