Tomsk governor decided to go for a second term

The head of the Tomsk region, Sergei Zhvachkin, does not plan to prematurely compare the powers of the head of the region. His governor's term ends in March.

Zhvachkin intends to participate in the elections of the head of the region, which will be held on a single voting day, September 10. He stated this after the presentation of the investment potential of the Tomsk region in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“There are three keys: this is your own desire, most importantly, it is the choice of people and the position of the federal center. There is my own desire, and I have long said that I am going to the polls. In five years, we must finish what we started. But the elections in September, so there is still time, ”the official noted, emphasizing that he does not intend to resign ahead of schedule.

Sergey Zhvachkin holds the post of governor of the Tomsk region since March 17, 2012. His term of office expires in March 2017.

On February 7, the head of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn announced the early resignation. This happened after the newspaper Vedomosti wrote about its possible departure with reference to sources close to the Kremlin. Dismissal was associated with an unstable situation in the region.
