Police in Nevyansk detained a former orphanage resident, 30-year-old Arkady Kovalenko, who, in protest against the eviction of his family with a one and a half year old child, pitched a tent in front of the city hall. This was reported on February 10 by Znak.
“We decided to put up a tent to draw attention to our problem,” Kovalenko explained to the publication, already at the police station.
The Kovalenko family are now the only residents of the emergency barracks, which, according to the decision of the authorities, should be demolished. The rest received the keys to new apartments. However, according to the mayor's office, Kovalenko should have moved to a new house with his mother, who was deprived of parental rights more than 10 years ago. Now she does not let them into a new apartment, saying that she does not need a son.
