The Ukrainian writer Sergei Zhadan was expelled from Belarus and notified the ban on entry into the country for an indefinite period. The writer reported this on his page.

The Department of Consular Service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry of Ukraine said that the consul finds out the reasons and circumstances of the detention of Zhadan. The Embassy of Ukraine in Belarus appealed to the country's Foreign Ministry with a demand to explain the causes and circumstances of the detention

Zhadan lives and works in Kharkov. The writer regularly acts with his works in various cities of Ukraine and Western Europe, including accompanied by Ukrainian musicians.

Zhadan was an active participant in the Kharkov Euromaidan. In March 2014, the writer suffered during clashes with pro -Russian activists.

In 2016, Zhadan received the State Prize "Ukrainian Book of the Year". The writer sent the monetary part of the prize to the aid of children's institutions of the Luhansk region.
