At the Tennis Federation Cup before the USA-Germany match, the old German anthem was played with the words "Germany above all." Team members and fans sang the anthem with the right words.

As the athlete Andrea Petkovic stated, she even wanted to leave the court. “It was the embodiment of ignorance. I have never felt such disrespect in my life,” Petkovic said. The American Tennis Federation apologized to the German team.
