The Chechen prosecutor's office announced a criminal case against blogger Ilya Maddison. And then I deleted the message

On the afternoon of February 13, the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya published on its website a message about the initiation of a criminal case against video blogger Ilya Maddison (real name Ilya Davydov).

The case, the report said, was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (actions aimed at humiliating the dignity of a person or a group of persons on the grounds of an attitude to religion, committed publicly) after checking the video recording of Maddison's speech "Joke about the Koran".

Shortly after publication, all messages about the criminal case against Maddison were removed from official Chechen websites. The text of the message was saved in the aggregator . Also, the message about the initiation of the case was preserved on the Twitter of the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya, however, the link indicated in it gives a “404 error”.

• In early February, the Chechen prosecutor's office announced that it had checked the video of Maddison's speech "Joke about the Koran" and found in it "statements aimed at humiliating a person and a group of persons on the grounds of an attitude towards the religions of Islam and Christianity."
• “Speaking to the public, Davydov sneers at the Koran and at the end of his speech indicates that it is the Bible,” the republican prosecutor’s office said in a statement. The materials of the check, the prosecutor's office reported, were transferred to the regional department of the Investigative Committee for the initiation of a criminal case.
• The video, which was checked by the prosecutor's office, was made in 2012. In January 2017, Maddison stated that he was receiving threats from Muslims dissatisfied with the video. Because of the threats, the blogger announced, he is forced to hide and close his accounts on social networks.
