A military police battalion from Ingushetia was sent to Syria

A military police battalion from Ingushetia has been sent to Syria, the head of the republic, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, said.

The servicemen will be engaged in ensuring the security of the Russian air group and employees of the center for reconciliation of the warring parties. They will work "in those settlements, cities where the parties are divorced, peace agreements have been signed," Yevkurov said.

• The Russian military police have been in Syria since at least October 2015, that is, practically since the beginning of the operation of the Russian aerospace forces. She is responsible , in particular, for the protection of the Khmeimim air base, the enforcement of curfews and the protection of engineering and sapper units.
• In December 2016, after the publication of a video from the military base in Khankala, it became known that military police were sent to this country from Chechnya; according to unconfirmed reports, a criminal case was opened after this video was leaked to the media . At the end of January, the head of the republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, confirmed that military police from Chechnya had been sent to Syria.
