The wife of the chief rabbi of Sochi, Arie Edelkopf Hanna, has been deprived of the right to reside in Russia, the reports Caucasian Knot . At the trial, a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that Hanna Edelkopf should be deported in order to reunite the family. As early as December 16, 2016, Edelkopf and his four children had their previously issued permit for temporary residence in the Russian Federation revoked, Kavkazsky Knot reports, citing lawyer Mikhail Shkolnik. The basis was a letter from the representative of the FSB that Edelkopf, by his actions, creates a threat to the security of the Russian Federation . What exactly is the threat is unknown.

In the case of Edelkopf's wife, the Interior Ministry also referred to the FSB letter. Hanna Edelkopf tried to challenge the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in court, but the court refused to satisfy the complaint.

Lawyer Shkolnik intends to appeal the decisions of the courts against Edelkopf and his wife. He does not rule out that “the city administration is behind this case with its claims to the land allocated for the synagogue on Dagomysskaya Street,” he is quoted by the Kavkazsky Knot.
