ONEXIM sold 3.32% of Rusala for $ 240 million

The ONEXIM group Mikhail Prokhorov placed 3.32% of Rusal shares on the Hong Kong Exchange for $ 240 million. One of the organizers of the transaction told Vedomosti.

The discount to the price on the exchange amounted to 9%. The Prime source in banking circles added that 505 million securities sold $ 0.48 per share. Bidding will begin on February 14.

ONEXIM opened a book of applications on the morning of February 13. The reception initially had to end at 19:00 Moscow time, later the deadline was extended for another hour. The interlocutor of the agency emphasized that investors submitted applications worth more than $ 200 million.

“To close the book, the number of participants has expanded. They confirmed the purchase of a pair of large customers, ”said the interlocutor of Vedomosti.

According to the newspaper, the Prokhorov group planned to sell 2.5% of the shares for $ 200 million. Another source said that ONEXIM was intended to implement 5% of the shares.

Prior to the sale of assets on the Prokhorov exchange, 17.02%belonged to Rusal. In the fall of 2016, it became known that Sual Partners Viktor Vekselberg plans to acquire shares from ONEKIMA. Vedomosti wrote that we are talking about the sale of 12% of Rusala for $ 700 million.

In February 2017, Kommersant learned that the transaction may not take place due to the increase in the price of shares on the Hong Kong Exchange. Negotiations began in the summer of 2016, when the company's quotes were approaching the historical minimum. By February, Rusal went up to $ 9.26 billion, so ONEXIM was not ready to sell a package at a “summer price”.

A source of Interfax said that negotiations are still ongoing - participants are discussing the parameters of the transaction.
