Sweet liberties of citizenship

Former State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov received citizenship of Ukraine. In an interview with Censor.NU, he stated that he had moved to Kiev in October, and received second citizenship on December 6, two days after the end of his powers of the State Duma deputy.

The wife of Voronenkova, opera singer Maria Maksakova, also ex-deputy of the State Duma, also received Ukrainian citizenship. In the near future, the spouses do not intend to return to Russia.

“I left because I just don’t want to live in lies and hypocrisy anymore,” the ex -deputy said. “You are going to where you can find business, and Ukraine is a second native country for me. Here are my roots, in the Kherson region. Therefore, I don’t feel like a stranger, visitors. Ukraine accepts everyone who believes in it. There are many problems, but there is a development vector, there is a spirit of freedom.”

Voronenkov also stated that he did not participate in the vote about the annexation of Crimea, his cards were voted by colleagues in the Communists faction. "The decision of the Communist Party faction was to vote for the accession of Crimea, and they voted in place with a card, although I did not give a power of attorney to vote. Then I saw what difficult consequences this vote led to, and today I think this is a gross mistake. My mistake and Russia's mistake. And this mistake needs to be corrected," the former deputy said.

Voronenkov also confirmed the testimony against the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. “Yes, I testified in the General Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine in the case of the ex -president of Ukraine Yanukovych, who really betrayed his country, was involved in the massacres of people who escaped to another country and called on the troops of another state to destroy his people. I believe that this person was not to receive asylum in Russia, but a fair court. And this court is very important for a democratic country,” the former deputy emphasized.

On January 27, it became known that Voronenkov testified in the case of Gosizman against Yanukovych . The process in this case may begin in Kyiv in March. Investigative actions in the GPU are planned to be completed in February. As reported, Voronenkov partially confirmed to investigators by the testimony, which was previously given by another former Russian deputy Ilya Ponomarev, who received a residence permit in Ukraine in the summer of 2016. Ponomarev met with Ukrainian investigators several times, including with the main military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios. He spoke to investigators about the agreements between Yanukovych and the Russian leadership.

Until recently, Ponomarev was considered in Kyiv one of the key witnesses in this case. It was reported that Voronenkov "himself showed the initiative, went to the prosecutor general of Ukraine Yuri Lutsenko and testified in the Yanukovych case." The interlocutor of Kommersant did not exclude that according to the results of this conversation, Lutsenko brought Yanukovych the accusations of Gosizmen.

The Communist Party promised to deal with the statements of Voronenkov, up to the deprivation of his membership in the party. According to Vladimir Kashin, deputy chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Communist Party of the Communist Party, “must clarify whether Voronenkov gave the corresponding testimony against the ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, but also what is the essence of these testimonies, if he gave them.”

The Investigative Committee suspects Voronenkov of involvement in the organization of the theft of the building in the center of Moscow. In April 2015, the TFR tried to make deprivation of his deputy inviolability.
