
The Russian Ministry of Defense intends to purchase more than 20 thousand medals for participants in a military operation in Syria. The tender announcement is published on the website of the public procurement website.
The military department orders 20 thousand medals to the "participant in the military operation in Syria", as well as 50 medals "for the liberation of Palmyra" and "For the Memory of Palmyra".
Medal "Participant of the Military Operation in Syria" is a departmental reward established in November 2015. According to the position, her persons are awarded for “differences, courage and dedication” shown during the military operation in Syria, as well as for “successful leadership of the actions of subordinates” or “great personal contribution” to the operation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense said that they ordered not 20, but two thousand medals. "When posting on the official website of a unified information system in the field of public procurement documentation on an electronic auction for the purchase of heraldic products for the needs of the Russian Ministry of Defense, an error was made," the press service of the military department said .
It is known that in March last year the Ministry of Defense purchased 10.3 thousand such medals.
Medals "For the Liberation of Palmyra" and "For Monking Palmyra" also have the status of departmental awards of the Ministry of Defense. In May last year, the medal "for the liberation of Palmyra" was received by Conduer Valery Gergiev, cellist Sergei Roldugin and other participants in the concert in Palmyra.
At the end of last year, the Assad regime and the moderate Syrian opposition came to an agreement on the beginning of peace negotiations, and a truce was announced in the country on the night of December 30. In this regard, Vladimir Putin ordered to reduce the number of Russian contingent in Syria. In Moscow, however, it was noted that Assad would continue to help in the war with IG and Jabhat Fatam Esh-Sham, who were not invited to participate in the negotiation process.

On January 30, the Syrian Human Rights Monitoring Center (SOHR) said that from September 30, 2015, when Moscow opened in the Syrian war, 4751 peaceful resident died from Russian missile and bomb attacks. 1160 people from the killed civilians - children and adolescents under the age of 18, another 673 are women over 18.
The total number of those killed from Russian strikes was 11,048 people. 3094 of them are militants of the Islamic State, and another 3203 are fighters of the moderate opposition, as well as the Jabhat Fatam Ashham (former Jabhat al -Nusra) and the Islamic Party of Turkestan.
