The military police battalion from Ingushetia, whose sending to Syria it became known the day before, should replace the Chechen military policemen located there. This was reported by TASS with reference to an unnamed source in the power structures of the North Caucasus Federal District.

At the same time, the interlocutor of the agency noted that the Chechen battalion has been in Syria since the first decade of December 2016. Unofficial information about sending a military police from Chechnya to the Middle Eastappeared just at that time . Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense reported the work of Russian military police in Syria only on December 23 ; At the same time, the department did not specify from which region the battalion arrived.

In turn, Interfax - also referring to an unnamed security forces - writes that the Ingush battalion was typed exclusively from volunteers. The number of units, according to the agency, is 300 people. A third of them are the military from different regions of Russia, and two -thirds are "Ingush guys who have not previously participated in peacekeeping missions outside the country."

On Monday, RIA Novosti transmitted with reference to the head of Ingushetia Yunus-Bek Evkurov that the battalion sent to Syria was recruited from among the residents of the region . The military was not mentioned from Ingushetia.

Evkurov reported that the task of the unit is to ensure the safety of Russian pilots and the military from the center of reconciliation of the warring parties. The interlocutor of TASS on Tuesday noticed that in addition, the military police should guard humanitarian missions and goods.

The publications that previously appeared in the media allow us to conclude that the Chechen battalion, which was replaced by the Ingush military police, is not the only unit transferred to Syria. On December 20, the New Gazeta reported that two battalions are being formed in Chechnya to transfer to the Middle East country. On January 12, the same publication reported that the former battalion of the North’s internal troops, which is now part of the 46th separate brigade of the operational appointment of the National Guard, was being prepared for sending to Syria. At the same time, the newspaper noted, the soldiers of the battalion were given brochures testifying to Russia's preparation for the land operation in the Middle East.

On January 18, the pro-Kremlin agency Anna-News published a story about the work of the Russian military police in Aleppo. The battalion commander Ruslan Numakhadzhiev said that his unit arrived in Syria in mid-December, and in Aleppo was transferred in the 20s. It can be assumed that this is the same battalion, which was mentioned in the official message of the Ministry of Defense of December 23. On the other hand, this is probably not a unit for which the Ingush arrived: the battalion, according to the TASS source, has been in the Middle East since the beginning of December.

On the 26th, the "Caucasian Knot" confirmed that the former "North" battalion is preparing to be sent to Syria. It was not excluded that other units would be transferred there. At the same time, the publication reported that the battalion from the base in the Chechen village of Khankala, located in the Middle East since December, extended a business trip for a month. If it was originally planned that the unit will stay in Syria until the end of January, then the rotation was transferred to the end of this month.
