1947 Ban on marriages of Soviet citizens with foreigners

70 years ago, on February 15, 1947, a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On the prohibition of marriages between citizens of the USSR and foreigners" was issued. As a justification for the ban, it was argued that "our women who married foreigners and ended up abroad feel bad in unusual conditions and are discriminated against." The decree was canceled on November 26, 1953.
