A resident of Ufa may be fined for sending a package of religious books.

A report was drawn up against a resident of Ufa under Article 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (non-compliance with prohibitions and restrictions on the import of goods into the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union or into the Russian Federation, for citizens the maximum fine is two and a half thousand rubles) because of a parcel with books. This was announced on February 20 by the Volga Customs Administration.

Among the 16 publications that the Ufa citizen was supposed to receive, the customs officers found the book "The Life of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and welcome" by Safi ar-Rahman al-Mubarakfuri, banned in 2011 by the decision of the Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg and included in the Federal List extremist materials under the number 926, and "On the way to the Koran" by Elmira Kuliyeva, it was banned in 2012 by the decision of the Kuibyshevsky District Court of Omsk and included in the Federal List of Extremist Materials under the number 1475. The books were confiscated.

“From our point of view, both of these books are illegally banned, and therefore it is also illegal to prosecute them for their importation into the Russian Federation,” writes the SOVA Information and Analytical Center.
