The death of the Russian representative at the UN Vitaly Churkina again demonstrated how the world in which modern Russians live - or, to be precise, consumers of Russian -speaking content narrowed. The calls in no case write about the deceased “nothing bad”, the banality of the type “about the dead are good or nothing”, calls to respect Christian values, the cynical condolences of people, about which the deceased even to wipe the legs, literally overwhelmed the media and social networks in recent days - as if it were not about the death of an official, but about the martyrdom of the ascetic.
It seems that he calls to call for the death of a public person - a politician, a diplomat, a science or culture figure - this is an occasion to summarize the results. First of all, the deceased should take care of the purity of his necrologist - and not the one who summarizes these results. The publicist is not an inconsolable relative and a priest who does not fulfill his professional duty. His task is not to mourn or sing, but to remind. And each such reminder is the edification of the contemporaries of the deceased. If you live your life not by lies, then even ill -wishers will be able to write with respect. And how important these posthumous reviews are to you, you decide for yourself.
However, Russians do not need such reminders at all when it comes to foreigners. No one ever offers to be silent about the crimes and mistakes of someone else's politician, no one says that “Christian values” apply to those who protect the interests of other countries, everyone knows that nothing can be said about the deceased. Outside of criticism, only their own villains find themselves - and in this Russian "liberals" suddenly find themselves in the same system with guardians. A tribal idea of values appears, which is that “for the sake of Russia” - or even for the sake of falsely understood interests of Russia - you can go to any dirty tricks: God will forgive.
This is not just Stockholm syndrome. This is the final triumph of the Gulag, whose prisoners are combined with security related ties, interests and concerns for the preservation of the camp. A prisoner who should grieve about the death of an employee of the camp administration and try to find an explanation of his actions - well, he was a good person, he needed to work somewhere, and if there were no camps, he would have served a clown in Shapito and had fun of my unborn children - this is just some kind of masochism, which needs to be squeezed out of the usual Russian diligence.
I do not feel any celebration about the death of Vitaly Churkin - this is a wild feeling. And I do not feel any special bitterness - they worry when they lose their loved ones, and the deceased was infinitely far from me, despite a long -term personal acquaintance. I feel creative interest - what the journalist should experience when he summarizes the results of the life of a public figure. And these results should be summed up with all accuracy - good deeds, successes, mistakes, defeat, crime.
Actually, the same task, from a Christian point of view, is solved by the Apostle Peter, who weighs sins and virtue from the paradise of the gates and is little interested in nomenclature successes and the need to lie and click for Russia or Putin. And why should the journalist be more holy than the first pope, I want to ask you?
Moreover, the journalist, like the Apostle, knows for sure that there is no Russian God. God is alone with Vitaly Churkin, and the Ukrainian girl who died in a nightmare of the defended Permanent Representative of the Donbass War, and the Syrian boy, who became a victim of a massacre justified by the Russian diplomat in Aleppo. God is not a shelma.
And I will not assure the reader that I believe in God and in divine justice. I believe in objectivity.
