YouTube has presented a ranking of the most popular trailers from the Oscar nominees for Best Picture. When compiling it, the number of views of videos both on studio channels and on popular aggregators from January 1 to February 13, 2017 was taken into account.
This year, users watched all nine trailers for a total of three million hours, YouTube representatives told TJ.
The trailer for the film “La La Land” took first place in the ranking. The top three winners also included trailers for the films “Arrival” and “Hacksaw Ridge.”
According to third-party research company Pixability, were trailers for superhero films the most popular. They received the highest average number of views per video. In their ranking, 74 positions out of the top 100 are occupied by trailers for animated and science fiction films, as well as films about superheroes.
In terms of the number of views on all YouTube videos featuring soundtracks for films nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Film Score, La La Land also took first place (1.5 billion views).
The 89th Academy Awards will take place on February 26 in Los Angeles.
