
In Krasnogorsk near Moscow, the police detained the leader of the “against slavery” movement Oleg Melnikov on suspicion of organizing illegal migration. This was reported by RBC with reference to Melnikov himself.
Another activist and four migrants were also detained. The movement arranged a shelter in the storage room of the industrial zone. “Four people lived there who were released from slavery. We gave them a temporary asylum to live with us,” Melnikov said. According to him, the migrants were restored by documents selected from them unscrupulous employers.
Journalist Ksenia Leonova clarified that detained migrants are citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Ukraine.
According to Melnikov, the police filled out documents to initiate a criminal case under Article 332 of the Criminal Code (organization of illegal migration).
In the Department of Internal Affairs in Krasnogorsk confirmed Melnikov’s detention and five more people. According to the employee of the duty unit, activists were brought to the interrogator survey.
On June 3, 2014, Melnikov was held a search of the "Swamp business". Both the investigation department and the lawyer of the defendant Irina Biryukova reported that Melnikov fully pleaded guilty. Meanwhile, he himself claimed that "he recognized participation in a particular episode and did not plead guilty."
On June 25, 2014, Melnikov’s pursuit was discontinued according to an amnesty .
Melnikov was the founder and leader of the youth movement "Alternative", who participated in the liberation of the Golyanov slaves . In addition, he collaborated with a number of political and public movements - from the Left Front to the EPO "Russians". The activist also participated in the protection of the Khimki forest and strategy rallies-31.
