The acting of a permanent representative of Russia at the UN was appointed Peter Ilyichev. As TASS reports , the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission reported this.

Earlier, the former Deputy Secretary General of the UN Sergey Ordzhonikidze suggested that Ilyichev would act as Vitaly Churkin, but someone else would be appointed to this position.

Ilyichev served as First Deputy Russian Permanent Representative Vitaly Churkin. The future diplomat was born in the Moscow region in 1966. He graduated from MGIMO. He speaks English and French. He worked at the USSR Embassy in Mauritius, Russian embassies in Kenya and the USA.

In the central apparatus, the Foreign Ministry held positions in the Department of Africa and the Department of International Organizations. Since 2012, he worked at the Permanent Reproduct of Russia at the UN.

Churkin died suddenly in New York on February 20, the day before his 65th anniversary. According to preliminary data, the cause of death was a heart attack. His body was delivered to Russia. Fridays in Moscow were mourning events. The diplomat was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery.
