According to one of the organizers of the action, a member of the Open Russia Council in St. Petersburg Vadim Sukhodolsky, the main thing for the democratic public of the city is to show that it remembers Nemtsov. Sukhodolsky considers the murder of one of the most striking politicians of the new Russia, one of the leaders of the Russian opposition of the zero and tenths with a terrorist attack in order to intimidate the opposition and the active part of society, which continues to fight for democratic freedoms. The organizers of the action believe that especially now, when Petersburgers have to fight for the Isaac's Cathedral, for the preservation of the public library and the Pulkovo observatory, it is very important for them to once again demonstrate to the authorities that they are not afraid of them.
