FSB: A supporter of IG prepared a terrorist attack in the Samara region

The FSB officers detained a local resident in the Samara region, who, according to the special services, was preparing to blow up a car with police and seize their weapons with a home -made explosive. This was reported by Interfax, referring to a source in the law enforcement agencies of the region.

According to the FSB, a citizen of Russia born in 1997, recruited by the Islamic State, was detained on February 21 in the village of Ust-Kinelsky of the Kinelsky district of the region.

“At the place of his residence, an explosive with a capacity of 500 grams in a TNT equivalent, a homemade detonator and striking elements in the form of metal balls, was seized with the use of household chemicals. From the words of the detainee, he intended to undermine a service car with police officers, seize their weapons and continue terrorist activities,” the source said.

He also said that the detainee wanted to confine his actions by February 23 "for the greatest resonance and, as a result, recognition from foreign patrons."

According to the source, the alleged terrorist recently accepted Islam and was recruited by the emissaries ISIS from Dagestan, who then transferred him 20 thousand rubles for the purchase of components for explosives. He allegedly received instructions for the manufacture of a bomb from the explosive technicians of IS from Syria.

The interlocutor of the agency clarified that the young man was already conducted surveillance, since he had previously entered the “religious and extremist cell, whose members gathered in the underground chapel on the outskirts of Samara.”

The intelligence service said that the detainees planned to commit a "series of resonant terrorist actions" in the capital using powerful home -made bombs. The terrorist attacks, the security forces said, were preparing at the direct instructions of the emissary IG, who is located in Turkey and put on the international wanted list.
