In the Urals, the family of a girl who became disabled after being vaccinated against tuberculosis sued the hospital for 600 thousand rubles

The Krasnoturinsky City Court recovered compensation of 600 thousand rubles from the city hospital in favor of the family of a girl who became disabled due to complications after being vaccinated against tuberculosis. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Sverdlovsk region.

The investigation established that the newborn girl was vaccinated against tuberculosis at the Krasnoturinsk city hospital. When the girl was 13 months old, she developed a complication after vaccination, which doctors at the city hospital were unable to diagnose in time. Due to the lack of timely and proper treatment, the girl’s condition worsened.

Doctors at Yekaterinburg Regional Children's Hospital No. 1 were able to establish the correct diagnosis two months after seeking medical help. She underwent two complex operations, including at the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology. The girl underwent rehabilitation procedures for a long time and was treated for three months at the Sverdlovsk anti-tuberculosis dispensary. The child has now been diagnosed with a disability.

Based on the violations, the Krasnoturinsk city prosecutor's office conducted an investigation and sent a statement of claim to the city court to recover compensation from the city hospital for moral damage caused to the girl's health. The defendant was offered to conclude a settlement agreement on the terms of payment of 600 thousand rubles in favor of the girl’s family. The defendant and the mother (the child's legal representative) accepted the terms of the settlement agreement, which the court approved.
